My tribute to an Angel named ENZO

He was born on Nov 25 th , 2020, and came to our house in early January 2021.
From the beginning he was special and looking back now. I realize God put his seal of
love on this little puppy. Enzo had it nice big heart birth mark on his chest, he was so
cute. Enzo in my life made a big difference, he helped revive my failing heart. Both the
cardiologists agreed that dog was “The best thing your son had done for you”, my
grandchildren were excited as it was their first pet. and I was thrilled as I am a
passionate dog lover.

I had dogs throughout my lilt but none so intelligent, so smart and so obedient as
toy Enzo. He loved people and the fresh air outside, but he was the sunshine of my life.
As days became busy. I got exhausted but Enzo together with new mischief gave me
extra strength and 100000 hesitated to do anything for him.

Everyone who met Enzo took to him, as he 001 00 lovable never barked or ladled on his leash, never charged at
anyone he would ignore another barking dog’s while walking. If someone new came he
would sniff to get their new smell and then settle somewhere in the hall. Even those who
had phobia for dogs could not help saying “Yes he’s a good dog’.
But Enzo WU was not a dog, he was an angel in disguise.
It was a joy to see him exuberant whenever he went to toy son friends farm. He
jumped and leapt like a horse. He chased cows and chickens and allowed the farm dog
to eat all his food.

From day one Enzo had his health problem which slowly started to manifest. The
first one Allergy – allergy to rice, allergy to chicken and soya. We consulted a vet
nutritionist and tried their food which had to be kept in the freezer and reheated each
day. I felt Enzo should get fresh food and started cooking for him every day. He loved
his sweet potato and carrots, liver, meat. sometimes egg mixed with parotta. He loved
malabar parotta and butter and nano. So, we lived happily for some time. Enzo went to
the spa for bath as he was too big to handle in the bathtub. Sometime he enjoyed a
swim in his favourite farm.

He had it wonderful time at sea. when my son took him with his family to
Pondicherry. Enzo was so happy and my heart was filled with joy to see the way he ran
in the beach sand (all in a video) where my son took a picture 4 his foot print’s in the
sand, only it turned out to be his foot print’s in my heart later.

Then, we learnt Enzo had several genetic problems his kidney, heart, and liver
were bad. There were days of drugs, injection, and hospital visits and Enzo pulled on
fighting bravely. Soon there were days when he did not eat anything till night.
Sometimes he drank a lot of water. Through this period Enzo would curl up on his couch
after my son left for work and would be dull. till he heard the lock Turing in the evening.
As he became weaker, he just shadowed my son at home. ‘Though I was with
him 24Hrs Enzo was truly a one master dog, he absolutely adored my son, who called
him his third son

Enzo’s toilet habits changed, but I marveled when I recollected. one early
morning when he whimpered and came to my bedroom and when I woke up, he left for
his couch. I followed and realized he had culled to clean up its he had done his toilet
business in the comer. Another time he called my husband, who did not hear, but my
son heard from his bedroom and came and cleaned up. what a dog!!!
Enzo enjoyed late night cuddles with my son and if he stopped Enzo would put
his paw on him to continue. I would go early to bed and would be up early next morning.
Today I have all the time in the world and get up to an empty day and an empty heart.
Enzo hated to be coveted with a sheet, no sooner we would have covered him he
would entangle himself in the over hangings, go round and round and take it off.
Time went on and Enzo’s walks become shorter and on some occasion he
fainted. Any excitement caused him to faint. There were many days Its refused to eat. I
tried to vary his meals but to my avail. He started to get head tremors and body tremors
too, but he put up a brave front.

Once my son had to go to Chennai for 3 days. he thought best not let Enzo see
him leave with the travel bag, no sooner had he left Enzo missed my son. He stopped
eating and was waiting. My son arrived on the 3 rd day, and we could see such a visible
difference in the little angle.
Soon his 3rd birthday arrived, and my daughter-in-law brought a cake and couple
of toys for Enzo. We lit candles and sang for him. He loved his squeaky toys; it was a
good day for Enzo and us.

Just a few days later he started to go down-not eating. pacing up and down
without rest and head the head tremors lasting for hours. The doctors advised my son to
put him down as he was in much pain. They fixed date. I prayed that God should take
the angel, and not by the hands of man. Suddenly Enzo started to eat well for 3 days
and seemed normal. He always seemed reluctant for his medicine but as always so
obedient. My poor angel. Then again, he stopped eating and the last meal was just 4
boiled eggs and nothing else.

Two days later my son bid him good bye, as he was going to spend new year in
Thailand with my elder son and his family. This time he told Enzo. I think Enzo knew he
was going away and that’s why he stopped eating again. He looked at the water in his
bowl but never drank it. He became dehydrated and staggered to walk.
The next day after my son left, he made a video call to Enzo who was now in real
bad shape. I was at my wits end and begged the doctor to come for a home visit, which
he did. He was shocked on how Enzo had gone bad in 10 days. The head tremors were
vigorous and nonstop, and his body also started shaking.

After my sons video call the angle staggered and found his way to my son’s
bedroom. I followed him only to see him manage to get on the bed and his lie down,
where he used to be when my son was on the phone or laptop. Meanwhile my
daughter-in-law had asked her good friend-a dog lover to come and help us, as me and
my husband were alone. I don’t know how Enzo sensed she was coming but he got
down and walked to the door just as the bell rang. He greeted her with the stub of a tail
wagging. She stroked him and spoke to him, but he fell down in the kitchen doorway, we
both sat near him and about 5.45 pm. that day 32 days after his 3rd birthday my Enzo
left this world by the hands of God.

He was named Enzo after The Ferrari and sadly his life started and finished like
speed o Ferrari-3 years and 32 days.

Now all I have is memories of an Angel who walked with me for a short time, who
filled my life who strengthened my heart, who gave me hope and left me too soon. This
void will be there till 1 hope to see Enzo someday…. Sometime….
